Oh my goodness guys! This baby I am about to share with you, just makes me go "Eeeek! CUTENESS OVERLOAD! Now that the pandemic is .... (fingers crossed) heading into the "over" phase, I have been getting more and more requests for older baby sessions.
Actually, the question I am getting most often nowadays is, How old should my baby be to take newborn photos?
This is a multi-answer question.
First, if you want your baby to be photographed in newborn poses where your newborn is all curled up, sleeping, and looking super peaceful throughout the entire session, then you should aim to schedule your newborn's photo session when your baby will be somewhere between 4 and 14 days new. Personally, for brand-new baby photos, I like to schedule newborns at about one week old. There are multiple reasons for this, that I will make sure to go over in another post later.
Second, and ultimately, your baby should be as old as you want your baby to be. There is no written or unwritten laws about when a baby is too old to take their first photoshoot. You should feel 100% comfortable and confident with your decision in booking your specific photographer and the timing suggested by your photographer.
Lastly, don't feel bad that you "missed your window" for your baby's newborn photos. UM, hello mama, there was a pandemic going on! Be gentle on yourself! There is still time to get your baby's photos taken and capture how itty bitty your baby still is. I promise, they are still going to grow and change and today is as good as any day to schedule that first professional photo shoot for your baby!
